Applicants Now Face Same Drug Tests as Active-Duty Members

The Pentagon has broadened drug-testing requirements for potential new recruits. As of April 3, anyone applying to join the armed services must pass the same drug tests as active-duty servicemembers. The Defense Department implemented the change in reaction to the increased illicit use of prescription medications, heroin, and synthetic drugs.
