Because of the change in warfare from combat operations of large scale organizations to small-unit operations, the Army has changed its policy for wearing the unit shoulder sleeve insignia (combat patch) on the right shoulder. Effective immediately, Army, National Guard and reserve Soldiers who deploy at the company level and above will wear the combat patch of that organization. No minimum time in theater is required, nor does the unit’s headquarters have to be deployed. Soldiers eligible for more than one combat patch may wear the one of their choice. The new policy is not retroactive.
