Army Revises Tattoo Policy

The Army is lifting restrictions on the size and number of tattoos soldiers can have. Under new guidelines, soldiers can have “as many tattoos on their arms, legs and body as they want,” the service announced April 10. Size restrictions have been lifted as well. Tattoos above the neckline are still prohibited, and only one “ring tattoo” is permitted on each hand. The bar on tattoos that depict racist, extremist, indecent or sexist images or sayings also remains in place. The changes apply to uniformed soldiers and civilian employees.
