Active-duty officers who switch to the active Army may receive a $10,000 bonus, up from $2,500 previously offered. Officers making the move can cash their $10,000 checks after retraining and reporting for duty. The most sought-after ranks are 0-2s and 0-3s, although some junior 0-4s have been accepted. First-priority specialties needed are in infantry, armor and artillery — with re-training as an option. Also wanted are experienced supply and human resources officers. Positions in the remainder of the Army’s 16 officer branches will be considered. Any commissioned officer is eligible for consideration, and to date accessions have come from the Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Public Health Service. For more information, contact Maj. Patrick “Bud” Budjenska at patrick.budjenska@us.army.mil or (703) 695-6644 or DSN 225-6644. This program is separate from a $10,000 bonus program for transfers to the Army Reserve or Army National Guard.
