The House and Senate agreed Dec. 30 to a measure that would authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide a burial casket or urn to any deceased veteran with no known next of kin, provided that the veteran is buried in a national cemetery. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., the chairwoman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, sponsored the measure, S. 3202.
