A year after the Navy’s newest carrier launch and recovery systems first proved their worth, they again have shown in tests that they are reliable. On July 27, both the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) demonstrated that they would meet operational requirements. Tests of the systems took place on the carrier Gerald R. Ford. The Navy and General Atomics, the system’s manufacturer, are joining to train sailors how to operate and maintain it.
