The Chief of Naval Personnel wants 16,000 Sailors to help shape the Navy by participating in the 2005 Navywide Personnel Survey this month. Randomly selected officers and enlisted Sailors are receiving letters inviting them to participate and providing instructions on how to take the survey. The online survey should take about 30 minutes to complete. Initiatives spurred by past surveys: a renewed focus on funding for parts and supplies; career sea pay expanded to officers with less than three years of sea duty and junior enlisted; improvement in the detailing process; and design changes on shipboard berthing compartments. The Navy Personnel Command’s Navy Personnel Research, Studies and Technology office is conducting the survey.
