Veterans are being given more time by the Department of Veterans Affairs to make the transition to a new online login system.
The plan – announced in July – calls for implementing Login.gov and ID.me, to allow veterans and beneficiaries to more easily login to VA.gov, VA mobile applications and other VA online services. They are replacing the My HealtheVet and DS Logon sign-in options.
Veterans can still use their My HealthVet user names and passwords through March 4. DS Logon users still must switch to ID.me or Login.gov by Sept. 30.
According to VA, most beneficiaries have already made the switch. The extension is to help ensure that as many veterans and beneficiaries as possible are using the new system before the old one is retired on March 4. Veterans who need help making the necessary changes can get in-person help at VA medical centers across the country.
Veterans can begin this transition now by visiting www.va.gov/sign-in-changes to learn how to create a verified Login.gov or ID.me account.
