The Department of Defense Education Activity will undergo a reorganization in the coming months that Pentagon leadership believes would position the agency to better use its resources to teach students who attend its federally funded schools.
Beginning next school year, DoDEA will make these changes:
• Creation of new administrative positions that would “free principals to focus on instructional leadership.”
• Increasing the ratio of students to psychologists to one for every 700, up from the present one per 900, thus enhancing mental-health services and academic assessments.
• Realigning instructional technology, to support and enhance digital learning.
• Implementing strategic reassignment and voluntary separation programs – to include a voluntary early retirement authority and voluntary separation incentive payment – to cut staffing while retaining top talent.
“With strategic vision, strong leadership, and unwavering support for military-connected families, DoDEA is building an agile, future-ready school system – one that ensures every student is prepared not just for today’s challenges, but tomorrow’s opportunities,” the agency stated in a press release.
