An MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial target drone struck and damaged the cruiser Chancellorsville during a Nov. 16 training exercise. The ship was conducting a radar-training exercise at the time. No sailors were seriously injured. Two were treated for minor burns. Chancellorsville remained capable of operations, but nonetheless returned to its homeport at San Diego Naval Station, Calif., to repair the damage. The accident is under investigation.
