The US has deployed 12 F-15C Eagles along with about 350 airmen to Iceland and the Netherlands in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, showing support for NATO allies with a nod toward Russia.

The units hail from the 131st Fighter Squadron, Barnes Air National Guard Base, MA, and the 194th Fighter Squadron, Fresno Air National Guard Base, CA.

The Air Force reports that the F-15s will remain in theater through September. Until then they are slated to conduct training exercises along side NATO allies and regional partners – mostly surveillance over Iceland and flying training at Leeuwarden Air Base, Netherlands.

The “theater security package” will also deploy to Bulgaria, Estonia and Romania.
