Family members who must take time off of work to care for loved ones in uniform who were injured or wounded while on duty now have greater flexibility to do so. Under a provision of the 2008 defense bill, eligible care providers could receive as much as 26 weeks of unpaid leave during a 12-month period to care for their wounded family members, up from the 12 weeks previously allowed. Other provisions were published in the Federal Register on Nov. 17. To view them, visit www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/ on the Web.
