David A. Fiosi formally succeeded JoAnne S. Bass in a ceremony at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, becoming the 20th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force.
Bass is retiring. Fiosi assumes the position as senior-most enlisted in the service after serving as command chief master sergeant of Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
In the prior tour, he served as chief master sergeant of the service’s Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. He began his career in 1996 as a nuclear weapons specialist, moving on to assume leadership positions in both the conventional and nuclear weapons communities. He also garnered experience in missile operations, program management and test and contingency operations.
“We live in a rapidly evolving world, where new threats emerge with alarming frequency, and the demands on our Air Force continue to grow,” Fiosi said. “While demanding, I am confident in our ability to rise to the occasion. I am confident because over the course of my career, time and time again, I have witnessed the dedication and professionalism of our airmen.”
Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David A. Flosi represents the highest enlisted level of leadership and, as such, provides direction for the enlisted force and represents their interests, as appropriate, to the American public and to those in all levels of government. He serves as the senior enlisted leader and primary adviser to the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force on all matters regarding the readiness, training, professional development, and effective utilization of more than 665,000 Total Force Airmen. Chief Flosi is the 20th chief master sergeant appointed to the highest noncommissioned officer position. - AF.mil
