Defense Secretary Ash Carter has nominated Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson to serve as U.S. Northern Command. Robinson, now chief of Pacific Air Forces, will become the first woman to head a combat command. Earlier in her career, Robinson accumulated more than 900 flight hours in the E-3B/C Sentry airborne warning and control system, and the E-8C Joint STARS (surveillance target attack radar system) aircraft.
