Female fliers who served as WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) during World War II would qualify for burial at Arlington National Cemetery, under a bill approved by the House March 10. Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., who became the first woman to fly a combat mission while serving in the Air Force, introduced the measure in January. McSally was spurred to action following a decision by Army Secretary John M. McHugh to rescind eligibility for Arlington burials to WASPs.
