LCS Program Hit by Malfunctions

Two of the Navy’s new littoral combat ships are not operational. CNN reported Jan. 26 that the Milwaukee encountered engine trouble in December on the East Coast as it was trying to make its way to its new homeport in San Diego. Milwaukee had to be towed to Naval Station Norfolk, Va., for repairs. A month later, the Fort Worth encountered trouble with gears in its diesel engines and will sit dockside in Singapore until it can be repaired, CNN reported. Both incidents are under investigation.
