The Navy is doing away with “Sailor Mail,” the system that automatically removes attachments from any emails transmitted to submarines. The new “Direct Delivery” system that will take its place allows for some attachments, depending upon the ship’s mission and the size of each attachment. Users are advised to refrain from sending large attachments, be patient when waiting for responses, and bear in mind that any transmission likely will be read by a human monitor.
