The Marine Corps’ new Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) reached a milestone earlier this month, when it successfully completed an initial test and evaluation. Seapower magazine reported that as a result, the ACV is on track for a decision in November about full-rate production. One Marine amphibious assault battalion will receive the new personnel-carrier version of the ACV sometime next month, for further testing. Plans call for variants equipped for command and control and vehicle recovery, with another version equipped with a 30mm cannon. The ACV is replacing the AAAV7 assault amphibious vehicle.
