As security continues to deteriorate, members of the Special-Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response evacuated another 20 staffers from the U.S. Embassy in Juba, South Sudan Jan. 3. The embassy personnel boarded two KC-130 aircraft, which were dispatched from Entebbe, Uganda. Soldiers from U.S. Africa Command’s East Africa Response Force continue to provide security for remaining personnel at the embassy. The area has been beset with fighting by ethnic and tribal groups since 2011.
