Marines assigned to Marine Corps Intelligence School, Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center, attend class at Naval Base Dam Neck, Va., Jan 17, 2017. The mission of Marine Corps Intelligence School is to coordinate and integrate training and education requirements for all intelligence occupational fields and serves as a proponent for intelligence language training and remote sensor system operators in order to provide technically proficient Marines to the operating forces and supporting establishments. The Marine Corps is offering bonuses to past and present members from the active, reserve and inactive reserve ranks who can make lateral moves into the counterintelligence and human intelligence MOS (military occupational specialty) fields.

The service stated last month that qualified candidates could be eligible for bonuses up to $105,000 for 72-month commitments.

These specialists would support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force by helping identify threats involving “terrorism, espionage, sabotage or subversion,” the announcement stated.

Successful candidates “must have outstanding communication skills [that] enable them to interact with a variety of people under any circumstance,” the announcement stated. “Intellect, flexibility, creativity and diverse cultural experience are invaluable traits.”

Individuals that complete a lateral move will be required to attend a formal school in their chosen field and will be on TAD orders during that time. After completion they will be PCSed to a new duty station. Depending on timing of the school course work, on-the-job training is a possibility, as are PCA/PCS orders for longer training programs.
