The Navy will station MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial vehicles at Mayport Naval Station, Fla., The U.S. Naval Institute (USNI) Press reported Feb. 15. Personnel who would operate the aircraft would be stationed at nearby Cecil Field Naval Air Station. The Navy reached the decision after studying environmental impact statements, which determined that the Florida site would be more suitable than the other alternative — NASA’s facility at Wallops Island, Va. The first Tritons are scheduled to arrive sometime in 2020, USNI reported.
