Sailors can access part of their service records using a new secure app for their mobile devices, the Navy announced Jan. 19. For the near future, the MyNavy Portal MyRecord Mobile (Beta) App will link sailors to personnel and training information on their Electronic Training Jacket (ETJ) at a read-only level. The app is ready for download from the Apple App Store for iPhone and Google Play Store for Android devices. Sailors can use it instead of the Common Access Card (CAC) to view their information. The app will gradually expand records access, eventually providing a link to sailors’ entire pay and personnel records. Using it, they would be able to make changes and conduct all transactions with the same level of security they would expect from the apps they use for personal banking.

Sailors who download the app should make sure the information in their portals is correct, the Navy Personnel Command advises. The app will require a PIN, pattern or password for access.

To download the app, use a CAC-enabled device to log into the MyNavy Portal at https://my.navy.mil. Then follow instructions to authenticate identity. Once this is complete, sailors will receive an email with information about activating their account. They then can visit either the Apple App Store or Google Play and download the free, non-Navy Okta Verify App. Once this task is complete, they can re-visit the App Store or Google Play and download MNP MyRecord, the Navy app, which is free. There are more instructions regarding the necessary steps required to complete the login process. Follow them.

Sailors who use the app will be able to tell personnel officials what they like and dislike about it, either by email at askmncc@navy.mil or telephone at 1-833-330-MNCC (6622).
