Sailors and their families who are looking for solutions to life problems can take advantage of no-cost counseling services provided by licensed clinicians through the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) system. Clinical providers at the FFSCs have at least a master’s degree in a mental health related field, such as social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy or counseling; and are licensed by a state to provide independent clinical practice in their field. The clinical providers conduct individual, couple, family and group counseling to address relationships, crisis intervention, stress management, depression, grief after loss, occupational, and family issues. Most FFSC counseling lasts between three to eight sessions. The Navy operates 62 FFSCs, with 73 delivery sites worldwide.
