The Navy has released the list of unrestricted line captains and commanders who are eligible for selective early retirement. The officers on the list are being notified by mail of their selection. The Navy Personnel Command stated that the early retirements are necessary to keep force structure within congressionally mandated limits. Officers selected for early retirement by the Fiscal Year 2012 Selective Early Retirement Board serve in overstaffed billets with low attrition rates.
