Sailors accustomed to having five to nine months to negotiate their new duty assignments before their projected rotation dates will have to get used to acting more quickly. Under a new change, the negotiation window will be seven to nine months – meaning, sailors will have to negotiate their new orders during a three-month window. Sailors who do not select new billets by the fourth month will be assigned to their new duty stations on an involuntary “needs of the Navy” basis. More details are provided in NAVADMIN 2459/09, available on the Navy Personnel Command Web site at https://www.npc.navy.mil/.
