Navy To Convene 0-5, 0-6 SERAD Board

A selective early release from active duty (SERAD) board for Navy full-time support (FTS) commanders and captains will convene August 10, to determine which officers will be allowed to remain in uniform. The board will examine records of commanders in the promotion year groups of fiscal years 2005 and 2006. Commanders selected for early release must retire by September 2010 or when they reach 20 years of service. The captains’ board will consider captains promoted in fiscal year 2008 for service beyond three years’ time in grade, and those promoted during fiscal year 2005 beyond five years’ time in grade. Strength levels for 0-5 and 0-6 are high, with an excess of 85 commanders and 24 captains.
