The Navy is taking several steps to improve the lot of dual-service couples. The changes involve the service’s collocation policy. Among them:
- Sailors no longer have to request a collocation when changes of station are impending. Rather, they now can request not to collocate.
- When detailers cannot collocate military couples, a flag officer must review their case.
- The Navy is “serious about making this work,” the service said on its home page. Officials are urging sailors to keep their personnel records updated – particularly with changes in marital status.
