The Navy has expanded its Perform to Serve (PTS) program to include all first-term Sailors. Under PTS, first-term Sailors can escape from ratings with stalled chances for advancement by re-enlisting and retraining in a rating that is short of skilled people and which has a better advancement opportunity. The program originally redistributed Sailors in CREO (Career/Reenlistment Objectives) 3 (overmanned) to CREO 1 (undermanned), but it added CREO 2 rating Sailors. The new expansion includes all first term Sailors regardless of CREO category. Sailors can use the Fleet RIDE (Rating Identification Engine) to help them develop an improved career path. This Web-based program uses personal input to pair the Sailor’s career interests and qualifications with undermanned rating options.
