Citing security concerns, the Army reiterated its recent policy that it would no longer handle any mail addressed simply to "any soldier" or "a recovering patient" because of security concerns. Cards and letters are welcome; "care packages" are not. They must be received by no later than Dec. 27, and have adequate postage. Senders also should not use glitter or any other substance that may be inappropriate in a hospital. American Red Cross volunteers will sort, review, and distribute the cards and letters among wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and other military treatment facilities.
