Okinawans Oppose Base Relocation

Okinawan citizens voted overwhelmingly against a plan to relocate Futenma Marine Corps Air Station. The Associated Press reported that the Feb. 24 vote would not be binding. The report cited concerns among residents of the Japanese prefecture that stem from past incidents involving aircraft accidents and criminal behavior by U.S. service members.
