Deceased Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) soon could qualify for burial at Arlington National Cemetery. Both the House and Senate approved measures that would lift restrictions on their burials, Reuters reported May 11. Such burials heretofore were restricted because WASP pilots’ service was not considered akin to combat duty. WASPs flew and performed Stateside training missions during World War II, while their male counterparts deployed to combat theaters in the Pacific and Europe.
