President Obama signed an executive order on April 26, calling for the senior leaders of the Defense, Veterans Affairs, Labor and Treasury departments, the Office of Management and Budget, Small Business Administration, and General Services Administration to meet and coordinate efforts to help veterans and reservists launch small businesses. Under the order, those agencies will form a task force with representatives from four yet-to-be-determined veterans’ service organizations, and determine how government can best improve veterans’ and reservists’ access to capital, federal contracts, and certifications, minimize red tape, and increase access to training opportunities. The panel will report their findings to the president in one year.
