The Marine Corps is encouraging all eligible enlisted Marines to procure their Selective Retention Bonuses (SRB) for fiscal year 2024 before the end of the month, when they are canceled according to policy. The SRB for fiscal 2025 likely will begin the following day, Oct. 1, again according to policy.

In an announcement to all hands, the Marine Corps is telling commanders to make sure their Marines who are eligible for the fiscal ’24 SRB understand that “can only be awarded for Reenlistment Extension Lateral Move (RELM) submissions that are approved in the Total Force Retention System” by Sept. 30, when this fiscal year ends.

As such, the announcement is reminding Marines in specialties that rate SRBs and “still have [specific] available boat spaces” to either submit a request for reenlistment or lateral move before Sept. 30. Marines whose current contracts expire during fiscal ’24 “will no longer be eligible for an SRB if approved after September 2024,” the announcement stated.

The announcement only applies to active-duty Marines. It is not applicable to reservists.
