With the drawdown of forces in Europe, the Pentagon announced July 19 plans to return U.S. Army Europe sites to their host countries. Germany will receive eight buildings at the Crestview Housing Area in Wiesbaden, and Italy will receive the San Gottardo Signal Site near Vicenza. The Defense Department considers both sites in excess of the military’s needs.
