By: FEDweek StaffGen. Jim Slife pinned on a fourth star and was promoted to the serve as the Air Force’s second senior-most officer during a Dec. 29 ceremony at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, D.C.
“The idea of leaving things better than when you found it – that is one of his hallmarks,” said Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about the Air Force’s new vice chief.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin described Slife as someone who has “seen all parts of the business and done it with excellence.”
For his part, Slife accepted the promotion with gratitude and recognized the challenges ahead.
“I wish every airman had someone in their life who believed in them unconditionally,” he said. “We stand at the precipice of a different strategic environment.”
Slife comes to his new position after serving as a command pilot, special operator and senior leader at U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Southern Command, United Nations Command, and U.S. Forces Korea.
