Soldiers’ Iraq Deployments Extended

The Department of Defense announced Sept. 25 that it is extending the tour of duty in Iraq of the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Armored Division, based in Friedberg, Germany, for 46 days. The unit was scheduled to redeploy in mid-January, and will now begin redeployment in late February. The extension affects some 4,000 troops. Additionally DoD will deploy the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division 30 days earlier than originally scheduled. That unit will begin its deployment in late October.
