Enlisted airmen who retrained in new career fields in order to receive selective reenlistment bonuses may qualify for additional bonus money, the Air Force Personnel Command announced Sept. 18. In some cases, airmen who qualified for the bonuses received less than they were entitled. The underpayments involve those who were in retraining status or approved for retraining within 30 days after the announcement that a selected reenlistment bonus was terminated or reduced, if they reenlisted for at least 36 months within 30 days of earning a 3-level in their new career field. To date, 325 airmen have been notified they may have been underpaid. Airmen who think they may have been underpaid should check their personnel records and contact local personnel officials. They should produce appropriate documentation, including reenlistment documents and course-completion certificates.
