Crews and support teams with the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, are outfitting their M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks with additional reactive armor – aimed at enhancing survivability. The crews are doing the work at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, as part of NATO’s Atlantic Resolve mission, which focuses on providing security in central and eastern Europe. The armor upgrades feature tiles that can be angled to protect the tanks in different situations.
