The Navy announced Feb. 25 that President Bush has nominated two flag officers to receive third stars and assume new commands.
* Rear Adm. William H. McRaven would be advanced to vice admiral and become commander of Joint Special Operations Command and U.S. Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, N.C. He now serves as director of both Special Operations Command Europe and special operation for U.S. European Command at Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany;
* Rear Adm. Michael C. Vitale would be advanced to vice admiral and become commander of Navy Installations Command in Washington, D.C. He now serves as commander of Navy Region Southeast in Jacksonville, Fla.
