VA Fires 3 in Phoenix

Three senior officials with the Department of Veterans Affairs Phoenix Health Care System have been fired. Associate Director Lance Robinson, health-administration chief Brad Curry, and chief of staff Dr. Darren Deering lost their jobs because of “failure to provide effective oversight for not ensuring veterans were either properly scheduled for appointments or placed on an appointment waiting list,” VA announced June 8. The move is the latest in a string dating back to 2014, when media reports unveiled that management at the Phoenix facility falsified records while many veterans who needed treatment languished instead.
