Vets’ Insurance Dividends Coming

Insurance dividends totaling some $369 million will be sent to nearly 1.2 million veterans during 2007. The Department of Veterans Affairs will send the dividends on the anniversary dates of the policies. The policies are not part of the current Servicemembers Group Life Insurance or Veterans Group Life Insurance programs, but were issued earlier to veterans who served between 1917 and 1956. VA officials advise veterans that the dividends are sent automatically, and they should not respond to scam communications telling them they must pay fees to receive them. Nearly 1 million of the individuals who will receive the dividends are World War II veterans who have National Service Life Insurance (“V”) policies. Dividend amounts will vary.
