Federal Manager's Daily Report

OMB has issued a report charting the progress of the Government Accountability and Transparency Board (GATB), established in June 2011 to recommend ways to improve tracking and display of federal spending data and to expand the use of fraud detection technologies.

According to the report, the GATB is working with the Recovery Act oversight board – after which it is modeled – to assess the feasibility of recommendations, including using FederalAccountability.gov as a centralized oversight portal.

To that end the Recovery Board is conducting pilot programs with several inspectors general to provide them with access to the recovery operations center’s analysts and FederalAccountability.gov.

The GATB and Recovery Board also are conducting pilot programs with several agencies and IGs to test the Recovery Board’s FastAlert tool, designed to provide agency and oversight officials a one-stop-shop for quickly reviewing data sources for adverse information on existing or potential awardees, OMB said.
