Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Center for Plain Language, an advocacy group and backer of the proposed Plain Regulations Act, has announced the winners of its 2014 ClearMark awards in recognition of what it sees as the best plain language communications written for consumers by government, private companies and non-profits.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau won in the “revised documents” category for its CFPB Loan Estimate Form, while the Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry took the “websites” category with its Don’t Mess With Mercury site.

Also recognized – as finalists in other categories – were the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (twice), the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Social Security Administration.
