Three recess appointments have returned the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to its full complement of five commissioners.
The most recent appointment was Victoria Lipnic, who as assistant secretary of Labor for employment standards from 2002 to 2009, oversaw the wage and hour division, the office of federal contract compliance programs, the office of labor management standards and the office of workers compensation programs.
Sworn in prior to Lipnic was EEOC chair Jacqueline Berrien, a civil and constitutional rights lawyer who previously served as associate director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
Commissioner Chai Feldblum, a Georgetown University law professor, received the other recess appointment. While at Georgetown Feldblum founded the federal legislation and administrative clinic, a program designed to train students to become legislative lawyers.
