The Army Corps of Engineers has announced that its “most efficient organization” won an 18-month A-76 competition for its information management and IT functions and will retain that in-house.
The Corps said its MEO was selected based on lowest cost technically acceptable, after a initiating the competition in June 2004 for about 1,300 employees and over 500 contractors throughout the country.
The number of employees involved has reportedly fallen since then to about 1,100, and a planned partnership with Northrop Grumman in the winning bid likely means some additional personnel reductions.
The Corps said it is conducting competitions for its “finance center data entry” activity in Millington, Tenn., and the directorate of public works functions at two research facilities.
