Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Partnership for Public Service and American University’s

Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation have

released rankings for the best places to work in the federal

government according to young people, minorities and women.

The Best Places to Work rankings use data from a government

wide employee satisfaction survey of more than 100,000 federal

employees that was administered by the Office of Personnel

Management.

It said the best places to work for employees under 40 begin

with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration,

followed by the National Science Foundation, the General

Services Administration, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the

Environmental Protection Agency.

First place for minorities went to NASA as well, followed

by the Social Security Administration, NSA, GSA, and EPA.

For women, NASA again was chosen as the best place to work,

followed by GSA, NSA, the Office of Management and Budget

and EPA.

PPS said the rankings give job seekers as additional

measure of where they might want to work, and that they

serve to help federal agencies understand the needs of

different employees.

The rankings are based on a government wide employee

satisfaction survey of more than 100,000 employees and are

administered by the Office of Personnel Management, and

focused on feedback from federal employees under 40 versus

over 40, minorities versus non-minorities, men versus women,

supervisors versus non-supervisors and headquarter versus

field office employees, said PPS. The rankings can be

accessed at sparklist.com.
