Federal Manager's Daily Report

The House Homeland Security Committee has passed a bill that would clarify the responsibility related to communications systems in the department lies with the DHS undersecretary for management.

The DHS Interoperable Communications Act, HR-4289, was introduced by Rep. Donald Payne Jr., D-N.J., and would direct the undersecretary to develop policies and directives to achieve and maintain interoperable communications among the components of the department.

The committee also approved an amendment to the Airport Security Enhancement Act of 2014 that would require TSA to review interoperable communications capabilities among law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel that respond to security incidents at airports.
