By: FEDweek StaffA newly offered bipartisan bill in the Senate (S-4828) would make permanent and expand the GSA’s Office of Executive Councils, which provides administrative and project management services for federal agencies and government-wide councils in complying with the President’s Management Agenda.
The bill would require greater transparency for the funds collected and used to support that agenda, increase visibility into the council decision-making and project execution, and require each council to develop strategic plans and to post those plans publicly, sponsors said.
Also introduced was S-4894, to formally authorize and provide an ongoing source of funding for Federal Executive Boards, which coordinate emergency response, employee training and other interagency activities in more than two dozen city areas.
The bill would “provide FEBs with the resources they need to continue supporting agency initiatives and strengthen federal talent pipelines by increasing the number of training opportunities in government” and “enhance FEB workforce development-related activities, such as supporting recruitment into federal internship and apprenticeship programs,” sponsors said in a statement.
