Last fall’s Combined Federal Campaign raised $72.6 million and a special pledge period related to humanitarian relief for Ukraine raised an additional $600,000, OPM has said in a memo that also asks agencies to support the upcoming campaign.
In addition to monetary pledges, federal employees and military personnel pledged volunteer hours with an estimated value to the charities of $2.1 million, said a memo on chcoc.gov.
The 2023 CFC solicitation will run from September 1 January 15, 2024 OPM said, and “Your active and visible leadership is critical. Please recruit highly qualified and emerging leaders who can run an exceptional internal employee engagement campaign.” Agencies should develop plans to reach all employees with information about pledging money and time, which “is key since employees are most likely to participate if asked by someone they know.”
OPM also once again asked agencies to encourage employees to volunteer as campaign managers, loaned executives, coordinators and key workers.
“These positions are a great way for employees to gain exposure to senior leaders in your agency and develop professional skills, and can even augment the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to advance to more senior-level positions, including Senior Executive Service,” it said.
