Last fall’s Combined Federal Campaign raised $70.1 million, OPM has said in a memo that also asks agencies to support the upcoming campaign that will run September 1-January 15.
In addition to monetary pledges, federal employees and military personnel pledged 83,000 volunteer hours with an estimated value to the charities of $2 million, said a memo on chcoc.gov.
“I request your leadership and active assistance in providing the resources at your respective headquarters, regional offices, installations, and agency levels necessary for another successful campaign this year. Active and visible leadership by you and your senior managers across the country and around the globe is critical,” acting OPM director Rob Shriver said in the memo.
The memo once again asked agencies to encourage employees to volunteer as campaign managers, loaned executives, coordinators and key workers. “These positions are a great way for employees to gain exposure to senior leaders in your agency and develop professional skills, and can even augment the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to advance to more senior-level positions, including Senior Executive Service,” it said.
The memo also covers other steps in preparing for and running the campaign, including appointment of local leaders, creating a messaging plan capable of reaching all employees, holding awareness events, and more.
